Located along the banks of the Chicago River in Chicago, Illinois' central business area and the theater district, the Hotel Monaco is three blocks from the fashionable shops of the Magnificent Mile. Guests of this 14-story hotel are close to theatrical performances and inspiring art galleries.
Hotel Features. Once a hat factory built in 1912, the Hotel Monaco welcomes guests to its atrium-style lobby sanctuary, complete with French Deco furniture, marbled floors, antique rugs and plush seating in front of an inviting fireplace. At check-in, a Hotel Monaco signature trademark features a bowl of glimmering goldfish, something each guest is encouraged to take to guestrooms for the duration of the visit. Weekday evenings feature a wine reception with tarot card and palm readers, handwriting analysis, chair massages and old-fashioned board games. Guests are invited to use the cardiovascular and strength training equipment in the hotel's fitness area, while discounted access to a full- service health club nearby is also offered. Chefs at the on-site South Water Kitchen restaurant prepare American favorites with Mediterranean flare in a casual, family- friendly atmosphere.
Guestrooms. The 192 contemporary guestrooms of the Hotel Monaco are washed in red and gold, and off-set by sunburst-shaped mirrors, meditation window seats and minibars. Bathrooms have dimming lights, granite counter tops and complimentary designer toiletries, while well-lit desks have multi-line telephones and complimentary high-speed Internet access. Private guestroom workouts with treadmills are available for a fee.
Expert Tip. Buddy Guy's on South Wabash St. features some of the best in national blues acts. Not a tourist trap as rumored around town, this live music spot is frequented by members of the Rolling Stones who make surprise stage appearances.

Continue to I-55 and head northbound. I-55 merges with Lake Shore Dr.
